Happy New Year from the #COLchat team and welcome to #COLchat’s Question of the Day!
Why create a Culture of Learning? When we created #COLchat, our mission was to help our school community and other school communities eradicate cultures of compliance and change status quo thinking. The focus in education should be on the student, and everything we do should point to true learning. When we stay focused on the components that authentically engage and empower students, advocate for collaboration and creativity, and promote failing forward attitude; we create cultures of learning.
Starting January 1st, your school community (staff, parents, students, etc.) can join the global daily conversation about creating cultures of learning within our classrooms and beyond. The #COLchat question of the day will be tweeted from the @COLchat2Action Twitter account at 9 a.m. EST daily. We have a handful of school districts that have already signed on to re-tweet the question of the day and have their educators and school community reflect and respond to the question via the #COLchat hash tag.
Join the conversations starting January 1, 2016!
You can also join us every Monday night at 9 p.m. EST to chat about the key components of creating a COL.
We have lined up an amazing set of topics and special guests for 2016.

How can #COLchat impact your school culture?
#COLchat has been one of the most valuable parts of my professional growth this year. - Ken O'Connor, author of A Repair Kit for Grading: 15 Fixes for Broken Grades, and Educational Consultant @kenoc7
#COLchat's topics point to optimism. They point to hope, and most of all, they point to a new way of educating our future leaders. - Jon Gordon, award winning author of The Energy Bus @JonGordon11
#COLchat opened my eyes to the idea of being a positive deviant for my students. Going against the grain to do what is best for education is noble and it's something all educators should strive to do. - ISTE Teacher of the Year, Nicholas Provenzano @thenerdyteacher
#COLchat has allowed me to connect with educators which otherwise would've been out of reach. New connections equals new perspectives - High School Teacher, Lori Anthony @MrsLAnthony
The connections I have established from being a part of the #COLchat experience has taken my leadership ability to the next level. - Assist. Principal, Roy Bishop @Rb08bps
The #COLchat community is not only incredibly positive, but they're also most inviting...having all stakeholders "at the table" creates a stronger learning community. - Co-host of #ParentED, Gwen Pescatore @gpescatore25
